JJWL raises over $20,000 to support Jackson educational programs!

Jackson, MI – On March 16, 2013, the Jackson Junior Welfare league hosted a spectacular St. Patrick's Day party to raise funds to support education programs at area nonprofit organizations. Thanks to sponsors, donors, guests and members, the event was successful in raising over $20,000.

Funds from the St. Patrick's Day party were allocated to the following programs:

The Reading Writing Connection provides instruction for people with dyslexia, other reading and spelling difficulties with a phonetic, structured and multisensory approach. Funds will be used for the summer reading "camp" that assist struggling learners in Jackson County.

Jackson School of the Arts provides young people access to arts education. An important part of any education, learning in the arts builds strong self-awareness and self-esteem and promotes critical thinking. Funds will provide scholarships and financial assistance for families in need to attend the programs.

Marriage Matters Jackson provides education, enrichment, and preparation activities in support of marriage, verifying success through outcome measurement. Funds will be used for the Marriage Restoration workshops.
